Bio
Brooks began his career in 9-1-1 over 19 years ago as a software engineer, developing software applications that improved emergency response and reduced response times using Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Most recently, he was Vice President of GIS at RapidDeploy, where he was responsible for geospatial features, functionality, and strategy across the company’s entire suite of products.
At NENA, as Interoperability Program Manager, Brooks oversees several technical initiatives vital to supporting secure, interoperable communications in NG9-1-1. Further, he oversees other NENA interoperability projects, principally the Enhanced PSAP Registry and Census (EPRC), the map-centric database tool that allows 9-1-1 telecommunicators along with select commercial and non-profit partners to locate and contact 9-1-1 PSAPs across the United States in seconds. He remains committed to the development of standards-based, interoperable systems that make the promise of the next generation of 9-1-1 a reality.
