Charles Crews is an accomplished leader who has distinguished himself in a variety of leadership roles. He is regarded as thoughtful and engaging with a demonstrated track record of achieving results and building inclusive team cultures.
Charles was appointed President and CEO of the Northeast Gas Association (NGA) in 2021. NGA, one of the nation’s leading energy associations, represents more than 35 prominent energy companies in the northeast region of the U.S. that deliver safe, reliable, and affordable low-to-no carbon energy to 14 million customers in the region.
Prior to joining NGA, Charles served as Principal of FPH Consulting Services, LLC, where he led the company’s consulting engagements across a broad spectrum of areas including operations management, capital investment strategy, infrastructure planning, organizational design, and business plan development.
Charles has held key leadership roles at investor-owned utility firms where he last served as vice president for Consumers Energy (NYSE: CMS), one of the largest utility companies in the United States. In this role, he led the strategy, operations, maintenance, and construction for the company’s natural gas division. As a key operating officer, Charles had direct oversight of 2,000 employees responsible for operating a vast 28,000-mile pipeline network while ensuring the safe operation and delivery to 1.8 million natural gas customers across Michigan.
Charles earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering from Ohio University and Master’s in Business Administration from Capital University where he graduated with top honors. He has attended executive leadership courses at Carnegie Mellon University, Rice University, Gap International, and the American Gas Association.
