After spending two years in glass manufacturing, Matt joined the Oil and Gas industry in 2007. His first role was as a Measurement Engineer at ONEOK, focused on natural gas measurement, supporting gathering and processing systems, and intrastate and interstate pipelines. Matt was gradually introduced to various aspects of data processing, system balancing, SOX auditing, and enterprise application management. He was also introduced into the GPA Midstream where he became an active participant in both the Measurement and Analysis sections. Matt worked his way up to a Senior Engineer role, getting introduced to management by overseeing a group of Balance Analysts that really coached him on how to be a good leader.
In 2014 Matt was provided an opportunity with MarkWest to manage an entire measurement data processing group while furthering his involvement in industry organizations. There he had a steep learning curve regarding oil and NGL measurement, but through active participation in API and by having a team of experts to engage with, Matt was able to get up to speed quickly. He was elected to represent the Midstream section of the FLOWCAL Advisory Board, and wrote two papers that have been presented at various industry conferences. Matt also provided interim leadership to a series of NGL labs and 4 groups of field technicians. In 2020 he was promoted to manage the entire corporate Measurement function for the Gathering and Processing arm of MPLX, including Project Management, Product Quality, and Measurement Specialist teams.
Matt decided to step away from MPLX in late 2020, and then joined Quorum in early 2021 where he serves as a Measurement SME in the Measurement Professional Services team working on large-scale FLOWCAL and TESTit projects, and continuing industry participation.
