Melanie Lampton is a shareholder in Babst Calland’s Pipeline and HazMat Safety practice group and is based in the firm’s Washington, D.C. office. She represents clients in pipeline safety matters before the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) and state commissions. Melanie is a former attorney with the Federal government, where she spent nearly ten years working on energy-related matters. She was an attorney advisor at PHMSA, counseling the Office of Pipeline Safety on rulemaking, regulatory enforcement, litigation, and policy initiatives. More recently, she worked as an attorney advisor in the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of General Counsel, where she provided counsel on legislative issues and rulemakings across the department.
