An advisory board member of the American Flood Coalition a 503 (c) 3 – This coalition advocates for national solutions to proactively address flooding and sea level.
Previously served on the First Street Foundation – This Foundation is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit that quantifies and communicates the increasing risks associated with sea level rise and flooding.
Maj. Gen. Walsh served as deputy commanding general for civil and emergency operations for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, where he was responsible for nearly 25,000 employees who operate and maintain $232 billion worth of infrastructure. Among his proudest accomplishments were:
-Delivering the $10 billion hurricane storm damage risk reduction program for the New Orleans area.
-Helping open a dialog among representatives from 20 states and 76 watershed partners to shape a sustainable future for the Mississippi River Watershed.
-Starting the first regional flood risk management fusion team that included five states and six federal agencies, and leading the team to avert a catastrophic event during the 2011 Mississippi River flooding.
Walsh proudly served his country for more than 36 years. He received his Master of Building Construction degree from the University of Florida, and his Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from the Polytechnic Institute of New York.
